X-Men First Class 2 is actually Days of Future Past :) or >:( !!!!
I don’t have to explain what this means for X-Men fans. This could be the greatest comic book film ever put before the camera, OR the biggest crock of bullshit ever to be portrayed as a take on an original story whose acceptance was so well garnished that it anchored/solidified marvel in 1981. The story arc has been revisited multiple times since 1981, my favorite storyline “The Age of Apocalypse” lives somewhere around this timeline. So here is the breakdown of the original story for people who don’t know, but love the X-Men movies:
The storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men. She succeeds in her mission and returns to the future, but despite her success, the future timeline still exists as an alternative timeline rather than as the actual future.

-Working from the original material.
Why in the FUCK does FOX still have the rights to X-Men? Yes Yes I know, Marvel allowed FOX and Sony to keep their grubby hands on Spider-Man and X-Men for a Bazillion Dollars U.S. , but with the success of the latest Marvel films, I have to wonder if someone is sitting in a Marvel/Disney Ofc shaking their head and slitting their wrist!
This coming on the heels of the fact that I loved X-Men First Class, but how can I trust FOX yet? They have completely ruined WAY more than they have Succeeded with, and just because that one movie was good, doesn’t mean they can keep it going!
Let’s take a look at the track record for those that have forgotten.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
I could go on for hours about how they messed up Wolverine but you can find my rants all over the First Class Review. More importantly what I’m trying to show is their inability to make good decisions for these properties. The suits think that they know better than 50+ years of writers who have placed their lively-hoods on creating compelling stories FOR THESE SPECIFIC CHARACTERS!!!!!!
I bring up Wolverine first and foremost because they are working on Part 2. It just started filming in Japan this past week. The original Director, Darren Aronovsky (coming off his Black Swan Success), was dropped from the project due to FOX wanting to wain his creative control by offering him more money! This move by FOX effectively killed the delight of the internet and a lot of the momentum building from the ever hopeful fans that Wolverine wasn’t destroyed with the first film.
Darren Aronovsky had planned to make his movie a One-Shot, separate completely from the first film, therefore holding no carry over of horrible ideas. The official statement was that he left because he didn’t want to be away from his family for filming. Wait! do you smell that? It’s a pretty strong fragrance. Oh yeah! That’s called BULLSHIT!
People called it and eventually it came out that the real reason he left was because of the points mentioned above.
As always I wait to see more on these developments. Days of Future Past is a tricky thing for them to jump to being that the last film was an origin of the team itself. However, Maybe they are jumping ahead to avoid plot holes they started digging in the first film. I will wait to cast my judgement of the Film when I see a Trailer and some casting news, but I won’t wait to cast my vote on Fox (that was cast long ago!). We can all hope that Wolverine 2, filming in Japan and Days of Future Past won’t suck ass. One of these days I’ll learn not to be so hopeful.
